The legend tells of a place full of unimaginable wealth, of people dressed in gold and ceremonies where inconceivable amounts of gold were dropped into a lagoon. That lagoon was Guatavitá, and the people dressed in gold were the local indigenous Musicas Indians.

On this tour, you’ll meet a local guide who will explain to you the true history of the Musicas Indians, their culture, what really did start the legend of El Dorado, and why the famous plethora of gold has never been found.

You’ll be collected from your hotel in Bogotá and be taken directly to the wonderful location of the Guatavita Reserve. Once here you’ll explore the paths that take you to the magical place of Lake Guatavita; which is actually where the legend of El Dorado was born. Here you will enjoy the story of the true history of this famous area, where the local indigenous would place gold into the lake for sacred ceremonies, along with covering future kings in gold.

Following this, you'll then enjoy a brief tour of the wonderful whitewashed town of Guataivia itself. With wonderful views and a grand bull ring (not in use).
